How it is calculated

  • Without restaking: coins at the end = coins × (1 + APR × days ÷ 365)
  • With restaking n times a year: coins at the end = coins × (1 + APR ÷ n)^(n × days ÷ 365)
  • Effective yearly yield (APY) = (1 + APR ÷ n)^n − 1
  • Rewards = coins at the end − coins staked; value = rewards × coin price

Worked example

32 ETH staked for a year at 4% APR, rewards not restaked, valued at 3,000.

You enter
Coins staked32
Reward rate (APR)4 %
Restake rewardsNo (simple)
Staking period365 days
Coin price (optional)3,000
You get
Rewards earned (coins)1.28
Coins at the end33.28
Effective yearly yield (APY)4.0000%
Rewards at this coin price3,840

After 365 days you would have earned about 1.28 coins (4% a year effective), worth 3,840 at the price you entered.

Questions

What is the difference between APR and APY?

APR is the simple yearly rate. APY includes the extra you earn when rewards are restaked and start earning too. With daily restaking, 10% APR becomes about 10.52% APY.
