Break-Even Price with Fees
Find the exit price where a trade makes exactly zero after paying the fee to open and the fee to close.
- Break-even exit price
- –
- Move needed
- –
How it is calculated
- Long: break-even = entry × (1 + fee) ÷ (1 − fee)
- Short: break-even = entry × (1 − fee) ÷ (1 + fee)
- Fee is the rate per side as a decimal (0.1% = 0.001), charged on the trade value at open and at close.
Worked example
Buy at 100 with a 0.1% fee to open and to close.
| You enter | |
|---|---|
| Direction | Long / buy |
| Entry price | 100 |
| Fee per side | 0.1 % |
| You get | |
| Break-even exit price | 100.2002002 |
| Move needed | 0.2002% |
You need to sell at or above 100.2002002, a 0.2002% move, just to cover the two fees.
